About our club

The Berkshire Shadows Club was formed in October of 2008, when a group of like-minded musicians got together and decided that there simply weren't enough opportunities to get together, play music and have a great time. We all believe in the "the social thing", so wives, partners and girfriends are actively encouraged to come along. The result? A fabulous evening of music, chat and friendship.

The club is affiliated to the Shadow Music community, a long standing, popular and thriving world-wide collective of guitar clubs. There are forums available as well as areas to upload music of your own, for others to listen to and critique.

We have a full backline of amplifiers and PA available for use by all comers and a band that is particularly knowledgeable about the ins and outs of Shadows and other instrumental music. To give everyone a chance to play, bass guitarists, rhythm guitarists and drummers who attend our meetings are welcome to step up and play too, on request. To join the backline you need to be a capable player, even if you only know one number! We are there to provide backing and support for the lead guitarists and they expect that the band can do the job.

For those numbers the band doesn't know, we are happy to revert to backing tracks for you. If you'd rather play to backing tracks, that's 100% fine by us, too. All you need to do is bring the tracks you need along with you, on CD or Mini-Disc.

Club meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 7:30pm sharp and going on until 10:30pm, at which time I'm pretty sure the venue will want rid of us all so they can pack up and go off home.
